All aspects of your mouth health are checked at each routine appointment. Our comprehensive examination covers 15 points relating to the health of your mouth As well as examining your teeth for holes and fractures we also examine your tongue, lips, cheeks and skin. We assess the health of your jaw joints and the gums and bone supporting your teeth. Where appropriate we will also take x-rays to reveal difficult to see areas, such as in between teeth, under existing fillings, and to assess the bone supporting the teeth. We will want to eliminate oral cancer and be on the look-out for gum disease. This is caused by a build-up of bacteria on the teeth, known as plaque which makes the gums become inflamed and causes bleeding when you floss. If we think your mouth needs a thorough clean, we will recommend a hygiene appointment. We will give you a report on the health of your mouth at the end of the appointment.
