Mouth cancer kills more people than cervical cancer and testicular cancer combined. Over two thirds of mouth cancer cases are detected at a late stage which reduces the chances of survival. In fact, under half those diagnosed survive beyond five years of diagnosis. However, early detection transforms survival chances to more than 90% (Source: Cancer Research 2010). For this reason at Woodseats Dental Care we thoroughly inspect the skin both in and around your mouth at every Dental Health Check. We are looking for changes within the mouth that MAY indicate a problem. Such changes include ulcers that are not healing, red or white patches, or any other unusual changes such as lumps or swellings.
